BIKEWAYS COMMITTEE Minutes of December 14, 2011 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 5:03 PM.
Present: Carol Dobek, Bob Donahoe, Judy Parmelee, Paul Schofield
Absent: (excused) Sheri Cocchiola, Mike Giblin
Guest: Bill O’Shea
The minutes of November 2, 2011 were approved as presented.
Old Business
- Tunnel situation-Bob Donahoe and Paul Schofield looked at the tunnels on the Province Lands bike trail to check on the warning signals. One tunnel had a blinking light and the other did not. Bob will talk with park personnel about how the lights function, and then recommend to the Eastham police that they support blinking lights on both sides of the Rail Trail tunnel.
- AmeriCorps Application-this is finished and will be sent to the town for submission.
- Foreign language signs—Paul has prepared the signs and will get to the bike shops before biking season begins.
New Business
- Mass Bike-It was agreed that this organization is for individuals and not appropriate for committee to join.
- Letters to Chair
1. Letter was received from a citizen regarding rough new pavement on Nauset Road and elsewhere. It was agreed that this issue is not in our purview and should be sent to Neil Andres at DPW.
2. Letter was received from a citizen regarding sign on Locust Road directing cyclists to Salt Pond Visitor Center. Bob will contact her and inform her about the new sign at the intersection of Salt Pond Road.
- Annual Report-Bob circulated a draft which was approved by those in attendance.
It was voted to cancel the January and February meetings.
The next meeting will be held on March 14 at 5PM.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:35 PM.
